Also of importance to me -- and why I ask the people of my District to consider my re-election is the need for improved public education at all levels -- from early childhood to our public and public charter schools to our community college and university. I am especially proud to have worked with the Governor and Legislature to finally break ground for our West Hawai'i Palamanui campus, but I am determined that it must become not just a community college but enjoy university status with wide-ranging academic focus connected to 21st century opportunities and issues including addressing global warming.
